Created by an ABO Certified Orthodontist: Meet Dr. Wolk

Dr. WolkThe Mini-Mold Technique was developed in 1999 by Malibu, California orthodontist Dr. Roger Wolk, who has devoted much of his career attending to the needs of many upscale patients who are concerned about the cosmetic appearance of the orthodontic appliances they wear.

Having developed many other orthodontic products prior to Mini-Molds, Dr. Wolk developed a resin casting technique with miniature molds to form attachments out of the same light cure resin that doctors routinely use in their everyday practice at a fraction of the cost. Thus, accessory appliances such as bite plates, tongue cribs, and retainers—all of which had once required multiple appointments, wasted chair time, and significant lab costs—could now be accomplished by bonding attachments directly on the teeth in minutes and yield the same results as the old method.

The Mini-Mold Technique began with Wire Bonders to create immediate fixed retainers and Button Bonders to create immediate resin buttons for use with elastics. Due to the product's popularity, today there are ten Mini-Mold direct bond attachments and the line continues to grow.

Dr. Wolk is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists and has served as Director of the Surgical Orthodontics Program at the UCLA School of Dentistry (Department of Orthodontics) for 15 years and co-authored a textbook on maxillo-facial surgery. He also is the inventor of many other dental/orthodontic products such as the Equa-Pull Headgear Force Module, the Auto-Flosser, and the Duplex Dental System, used for taking double impressions to make study models without trimming.
